Our Process

How it works

1

Receive

Console received and logged. Photos taken of condition before any work begins.

2

Full Teardown

Complete disassembly — shells, shielding, boards, mechanical components all separated and documented.

3

Clean

All components cleaned. Board ultrasonic where needed. Shell cleaned and deodorised.

4

Identify Faults

Full inspection and testing. Every fault documented before repair begins.

5

Recap

All electrolytic caps replaced with quality Nichicon/Panasonic parts. ESR tested.

6

Service Mechanics

Laser calibrated or replaced, disc deck serviced, belts replaced, cartridge slot cleaned.

7

Reassemble & Test

Console reassembled and tested on all video outputs — composite, S-Video, RGB where applicable.

8

Burn-in & Return

48-hour burn-in test, then safely packaged and returned with full service report.

Symptom Checker

Is your console showing these signs?

These symptoms are all repairable. Most are caused by capacitor failure or mechanical wear.

No power / won't switch on

Power supply caps or regulator failure — very common on aged consoles

No video or black screen

Video circuit failure, dead encoder chip, or output caps failed

Distorted audio — bass heavy or tinny

Classic cap failure in the audio output stage

Disc read errors or won't load

Laser deterioration, dirty lens, or worn disc mechanism

AV output degraded — fuzzy/dim composite

Output coupling caps have drifted — RGB usually still works fine

Intermittent power or resets during play

Power supply caps failing under load — replace before they cause damage

💡 RGB makes everything better

If your console supports RGB output, we'll test and verify it as part of every restoration. Playing via RGB on a quality monitor or PVM is a completely different experience from composite. Ask about RGB cables and PVM setup when you book.
FAQ

Common questions

Do you service CD mechanisms?

Yes. For PlayStation 1, Sega Saturn and Sega CD, we clean, calibrate and service the disc mechanism as part of a full restoration. If the laser is beyond calibration, we can source and fit a replacement laser unit.

Can you add RGB output mods?

Yes — RGB output mods are available as an add-on for consoles that support it. The Mega Drive outputs RGB natively via its EXT port (with a cable). NES and SNES RGB mods are available. Ask when booking.

What about region-free mods?

Region-free modifications are available for most consoles as an add-on service. Ask when booking — we'll confirm compatibility and pricing for your specific model and revision.

How do you test consoles after repair?

Every console is tested on a reference monitor via all available video outputs — composite, S-Video, and RGB (SCART or component where supported). Audio is tested. For disc-based consoles, we test with multiple discs across different regions. Then 48 hours of burn-in under operating conditions.
